Tempting Chocolate from Givenchy Holiday 08

Nov 19, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

This 9 color eyeshadow prismissime offer shades that are flattering for almost all skin color.  I just hope I’m not tempted to take a bite.  Remember those bubble gum flavored lip smacker gloss sticks?  Yup, took a few bites when I was 10 and ended up with beeswax stuck in the back of my teeth.  This is the problem when makeup looks or smells good enough to eat!  Givenchy Prismissime Eyes 9-Colors Eyeshadow - Holiday 2008 Tempting Chocolate- $53

YSL Holiday Collection

Oct 23, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

Yves Saint Laurent, has just unveiled their holiday collection also known as the “Bow” collection. From bold colors and lots of reds, this collection is surely not one to miss. As the late Monsieur Saint Laurent once said, “One should always be tempted to untie a woman’s clothes.” Oh, behave!

The Bow Collection is luxury at its finest. While the prices may be steep ($19 to $90), do you think you’ll treat yourself to a little splurge around the holidays?

Nudity on the Lips

Oct 19, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

I love nude lipstick shades more than anything! I personally don’t look good in any other kinds of shades so I always wear a very light color. It also looks the best when worn with smokey eye colors. A lot of you guys ask me what I use so this post is going to break down all my favorite nude shades, what I use, and what shade you should pick for your skintone.

Instructions:

1.Exfoliate lips to get rid of dry and flaky skin for a smooth look.
2.Apply concealer or foundation on the lips to mask the natural lip color.
3.If you’re using a lip liner, pick a very natural light shade and sharpen well.
4.Apply a lipstick or just gloss for a sheer look.

Products I love and use:

MAC Lipglass- C-thru

BareEscentuals Lip Gloss-Barefoot

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss-Pout

Victoria’s Secret-Heidi Klum Collection Lip Gloss

If you’re have a fair colored skin tone you can pretty much use any shade including the pinks, peaches, and tan colors. If you have an olive complexion and darker, the shades you use should be a little closer to your skin color. Don’t wear a shade that’s 3 times lighter than your skin or else you will look like a space cadet lol. Stick to the same color as your foundation and add a touch of color if you want from the peach or rosey side.

Darkness Falls

Oct 19, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

I love playing with dark colors and I can’t seem to get enough of it. I tried to do a spin on the purple smokey eye with some added liquid eyeliner and a light eyeshadow to give it a more dramatic look. Here is what I came up with.

You can choose what sort of eyeliner you want, you dont have to do the same one I did if your prefer the thiner kind or even thicker than this.

Blush Correction

Oct 7, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

Blush can be so fun and of course it gives our faces a healthy looking color but it can be very tricky to put on. You dont want to have too much on your brush at first so be sure to apply gradually so you dont look like a clown. Always dust updward, and blend well so it looks flawless.

When applying your blush, make sure its underneath your cheekbones to give you a more defined look. If you can’t find where they are, just suck your cheeks in and place it there. After your done, you can always make a big smile and lightly add a touch of pink on the apples of your cheeks for a rosey look.

Also, make sure the blush color you pick out goes with the lipstick you’re wearing.
Red lips=Rosey/Pink blush
Pink lips=Pink blush
Earthy toned lips=Bronzer, or Peachy color

Chanel’s New Holiday Collection

Oct 6, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

It seems like the holidays keep getting bumped up earlier with each passing year. (Target’s holiday section was out in full force last week.) But when Chanel does it, somehow I’m ready to do eggnog shots if it means I’ll get to play with new beauty goods.

* Rouge Allure lipstick in Nude, a slightly shimmery, pale nude with just the slightest hint of peach. It gives you that Françoise Hardy look, effortlessly.
* Poudre Précieuse, a lightweight loose gold powder that can go on the face, shoulders, and décolletage.
* Le Vernis nail polish in Haute Chocolat. This shade was developed by a Wisconsin high-schooler, and if she wants a career in cosmetics, she’ll do very well. It’s a warm brown shade with subtle gold flecks — nothing flashy, like “It’s 1992; I’m going to a rave!” or anything. Just a lovely color, especially if you’re getting tired of all the dark reds and purples.

The Perfect Look Starts With…Eyebrows

Oct 5, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

I can’t stress it enough, but the eyebrows are the most important thing on your face after having clear skin. If your eyebrows are perfect, then even a little gloss and mascara will look like you just got your makeup done professionally. No seriously! It works miracles for every face. There’s a classic shape for eyebrows that every girl should have…and there’s variations of this shape…thin, medium, and thick.

Follow the lines in this photo as your guideline on how your brows should be aligned with your eyes. If you use this as your blueprint, you’ll never go wrong. Draw it on your face if you have to and then just erase with makeup remover.

Take look at some celebs with the classic brow:

What You Need to Know About HD Make-up

Oct 5, 2008 Author: oxy | Filed under: Beauty/Makeup

Almost every makeup brand is slowly coming out with products for “HD” purposes. If you work in the modeling, film, or theatrical field, then you probably know about HD quality, and the difference in the makeup you should be wearing.

Don’t buy into the make-up products designed for it. Its all a way for them to make money and trick you into buying a new product. From learning about this topic in class, to my own research, and from others in the industry….it doesn’t work. All HD means is that you are able to see more on camera and certain colors don’t look so flattering. For example, colors such as greys and purples will wash you out and age you on HD quality. So just be more conscious of certain colors and be sure to not apply too much foundation or else it will look like a mask on HD.
